Combined with existing replication/erasure-coding options, SMB/NFS/S3 front-ends, QCommander centralized management, and rolling upgrades, this brings the platform's data-protection story roughly to where mature enterprise NAS platforms have operated for years.

The admin lesson: features migrate down-market fast, so "does it have snapshots and replication?" is no longer a differentiator anywhere. What still separates ONTAP-class platforms is maturity in the boring parts: Snapshot + SnapMirror relationship consistency at scale (hundreds of relationships per controller), block-level forever-incremental transfers, application-consistent workflows via SnapCenter, and a documented recovery path you've actually rehearsed.
