DOCS ANF SAP HANA Sep 01, 2026
Microsoft and NetApp have promoted the Azure NetApp Files (ANF) application volume group feature to general availability, and NetApp has documented it as the standard provisioning method for SAP HANA volumes on ANF. The feature replaces per-volume manual placement that used to require Azure-team intervention for HANA-sized workloads, and bundles data, log, and shared volumes into a single SAP HANA–aware group with deterministic placement on the underlying ANF capacity pool.
Why it matters: it is the canonical ANF workflow for HANA going forward (manual volume-by-volume provisioning will be deprecated), it removes the manual Azure escalation step, and it gives architects a stable IaC target — every HANA system on Azure ends up with the same volume layout. The NetApp video series covers single-host, scale-up, HSR, MCOS, MDC and standby HANA topologies and their required volume maps.
