finance NTAP analysts 2026-10-23Evercore ISI has been the loudest bull on NetApp this autumn. In August it lifted its price target to $210 from $170. On 23 October 2026 NTAP closed at $215.48 — the market has already run past the target.
What Evercore actually changed
According to the target change reported on 23 August 2026 (MarketScreener), Evercore ISI raised its NTAP target to $210 from $170, citing enterprise storage demand and NetApp's AI-adjacent all-flash momentum. It was not an isolated note: it extended a post-earnings analyst run that already included Citi and Oppenheimer. Seeking Alpha's 7 October headline — "NetApp in focus as Evercore upgrades on outlook" — shows the same thesis being restated rather than revised.
That sequence matters more than any single number. A target raise followed by a restatement is an analyst defending a call while the price does the work; a target raise followed by silence usually means the number is about to be re-cut.
The price has caught up, then some
Our own series of 60 daily closes tells the story the target misses:
- 31 July 2026: $178.50. 23 October 2026: $215.48. That is roughly 20.7% in under three months.
- The September base held around $183-$199 for five weeks, then broke: $215.05 on 1 October, $235.77 on 7 October, and a series high of $239.18 on 12 October.
- The pullback was fast: $222.20 on 14 October, $203.80 on 16 October. Two sessions, about 15% off the high, on no change to the thesis.
- Then it recovered to $215.48 on 23 October, with the 52-week range now $93.69 - $240.87 and year-to-date performance of +98.22%.

A 12-month target is an estimate of where an analyst thinks the shares will be in a year, not a valuation of today's price. When the stock trades above the target, exactly two things have to happen: the target gets revised upward, or the multiple compresses. Nothing in the chart tells you which.
What we can say with numbers: at $215.48 the shares are $5.48 above Evercore's August target, +9.25% over one month and +26.90% over three. The October drawdown of roughly 15% from the 12 October high already showed how quickly the AI-storage trade can de-rate — and how quickly it re-rates back.
What to watch instead of the target
Three things are measurable and worth more than the headline number: the next set of quarterly results and whether all-flash revenue growth holds its rate; whether the analyst run turns into upward revisions after those results rather than restatements of August's note; and whether the shares can hold the $200-$210 shelf that the August target implicitly marked, or treat it as resistance on the way back down.
